A leading not-for-profit organization had implemented a content management system (CMS) to manage digital assets, share content, and provide online commerce. The maintenance and enhancements to the CMS was difficult and it had site design limitations. The organization had to compromise on how the site looked because of the limitation of the CMS. The marketing, sales, digital, IT and backoffice wanted a new solution that could overcome these challenges.
We worked closely with Marketing, Sales, IT and backoffice to understand the paint points related to the current website and content management system. The result was a robust understanding of business requirements along and key issues that need to be overcome in the new solution. The current CMS also fell short on mobile and social engagement. We invited several CMS vendors to participate in responding to the requirements and objectively determining which CMS will be able to meet the online-mobile-social needs of the organization.
Being technology agnostic and vendor independent allowed for meritorious selection of the CMS. The team is now on the path of migrating from old CMS to the new CMS. Careful planning is in place to port content and digital assets into the new CMS.
